Helpful Tips For Getting Your Book Published

Are you keen on getting your book published when you have written one? If you have not yet been in print, and are just trying to break into the market, you will find the tips here useful in getting your book published.

To start with, keep an open mind. Don't decide that a publisher definitely will or will not accept your book. And don't count on large fees, till your deal with your publisher is signed and sealed. Be aware that what you are trying to do has no guarantee of success, so don't burn your bridges by, for example, quitting your regular job.

In addition, be aware that rejection is all too likely, without assuming that it is inevitable. The whole process of getting your book published is bound to take a certain amount of time - be patient, persistent and face rejections squarely.

Also, remember that although a literary agent can be very useful to you in getting your book published, it is not absolutely essential for you to have one. There are a lot of publishers who take a chance with unasked for manuscripts from unpublished authors. It's up to you whether to get an agent or not, but do make sure that your agent is a good one before you sign up with him or her.

If you are not sure whether to get an agent or not, start off without one. You can get help from various author resource guides like those from Writer's Market or find online information about publishers who accept unsolicited manuscripts directly from a writer. If you find that your book is being rejected by many publishers, thin about getting an agent - a professional editor might be a good idea, at this point.

You will find many resources to understand as much as you can about different publishers so that you don't make basic mistakes such as sending work to a publisher who does not accept books from authors directly, or who only accepts manuscripts during some periods of the year. You must clearly understand these and other such restrictions.

Follow directions and keep within the limits indicated by the publisher you are sending your work to. If a particular format is required, stick to it. Don't ever send your original manuscript; keep back up copies as well. Make sure you send a covering letter and a stamped self-addressed envelope with your manuscript.

What we have talked about here are only some of the various factors you will have to consider when you are getting your book published. It certainly won't be a cakewalk, but have faith in your dream and keep pushing your book to publishers. Remember, nothing venture, nothing gain!

Despite his many failings, I thought Tony Blair achieved much to improve Britain, that he was a formidable politician and that hindsight is likely to reinforce my verdict in the long run Never dull, Tony Blair, is he?
